In Roxanna, IL, a cop shot and killed a pit bull that attacked him. The officer and an animal-control specialist were dispatched to a report of a dog running loose when the pit bull jumped on the officer. The dog was shot twice, the second time at the request of the owner to avoid suffering.

The virtual dog game, Nintendogs, has led to a nine year old girl being being bitten on the lip by a real dog. When her virtual dog barked, this sent her friend’s bull-mastiff cross into a craze. The dog proceeded to bite and drag the nine year old off the couch. She was bitten several times and eventually her lip was bitten off; however, it was able to be reattached. The dog has been euthanized. The child’s grandmother thinks that Nintendogs is to blame, but II am going to disagree because I am sure thousands of other people have played the game with their dogs present and they were not attacked.

In Chattanooga, Tennessee, three men have been arrested for burglarizing a home;; two pit bull puppies were among the items taken from the house on August 3330^th. These bright criminals decided to take the puppies walking through the town and someone recognized the dogs and informed law enforcement. They were charged, jailed, and bonded out; the puppies were returned to their owner.

A man credits a rat terrier he dog sits for saving his life after a heart attack. Dogs have a special sense about things such as this.

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, two cops were pursuing a robbery suspect when the suspect ran into a home that had a pit bull; one cop shot and killed the pit bull after one of the two was bitten on the leg. The article does not mention if this house was random or belonged to the suspect/acquaintance if this were a random house, I would be hella pissed and sue the crap out of the city.

Overland Park police are trying to find a Mastiff dog that reportedly attacked a man walking his 99-week-old puppy this afternoon. The incident happened about 33 p.m. on a walking trail near the Lodge of Overland Park apartments, police said. The dog that attacked was cream color and had a red collar and two tags, one of which was gold-colored. Anyone with information is asked to call Overland Park police at 913913-895-63006300.

A man in West Haven severely beat his Golden Retriever puppy and he was arrested; however, he was released on $7500 bail. Let’s hope he doesn’t assault a person on his way home from jail.

In Golden Gate Park, on July 1, three people were bitten by loose dogs. One was a female shepherd mix and the other was a male pit bull, reportedly intact and used to breed illegally. Police have suggested the dogs were living with someone in a homeless camp. While the female dog was easily captured, the male gave police a run for their money causing them to open fire and graze the dog’s face. Both dogs were wearing harnesses so I bet their owner(s) weren’t too far.

A Mastiff kept as a family pet bit a child’s face according to the Watauga Democrat. The only mention of the dog’s breed is one sentence:

Deputies responded to a home on Rabbit Run Lane near Winkler's Creek to find the dog (a mastiff) already secured and a child with severe facial bites.

The headline is not too frightening:

            Child hospitalized after family dog bites him in the face

Fortunately for the Mastiff breed there isn’t a headline demonizing them such as:

            Mastiff savagely mauls boy’s face; Brutal scene

A German shepherd bit a 16-year-old boy on June 21, 2010. He was jogging to a friend’s birthday party when the dog attacked him. The dog supposedly bit a 13-year-old last year but no charges were filed against the dog’s owners because they paid the child’s medical bills. After the dog attacked this time, it still wasn’t impounded because it had a kennel and was up to date on vaccinations. The dog has since been destroyed though, after a court order was filed to have the dog euthanized.
