Dog gets hurt after penis attack
BY Shellee Geduld
A pitbull is nursing serious injuries after a pony attacked it for biting its penis.
The drama unfolded last week when a man driving down an Ottery road noticed the pit bull, known as Ballas, attacking the cart horse called Bertie.
The SPCA's Lamees Martin says the man called the organisation's Horse Care Unit and Inspector Michael Herbert was dispatched to the scene where he found an injured, shocked and distressed Bertie bleeding from his genitals as a result of the attack.
And she says that the man who stopped to help Bertie saved its life by putting a stick in Ballas' mouth to loosen the dog's grip.
Bertie was rushed to the SPCA in Grassy Park where he received treatment for his wounds and shock before he was moved to the Cart Horse Protection Association where he will continue to get treatment until he has recovered - both physically and mentally.
Ballas' owner Mogamat Galant says he has no idea how the dog managed to get loose because he usually keeps the animal behind closed gates, but he has offered to pay for all Bertie's medical costs.
Mogamat took Ballas to the SPCA for treatment for a deep cut on his face when Bertie kicked him.
"Ballas is a good dog, I don't know what made him attack the pony because he gets on well with my family, including my children," says Mogamat. - Daily Voice

What an awful injury for the horse to receive; I hope he recovers soon. The last paragraph though makes me want to shake the dog’s owner. Mogamat Galant says,
“Ballas is a good dog, I don't know what made him attack the pony because he gets on well with my family, including my children.
I don’t know maybe prey drive made your dog attack the horse. Why don’t people understand that dog aggression and human aggression are not the same? Kangol can be around people one minute and have a great time; however, if any potential prey item appears then he is on it like white on rice.
